Through The Roots V.I.P. Experience Review, Federal Bar Long Beach, CA Mar. 22, 2017

Left to right: Taylor, Evan, Budda of Through the Roots These last couple years have been fun for reggae. As I settled back into living in my hometown of Long Beach, California, I have found many great reggae shows including live dub, conscious, and roots music events . Many of you may not know but Long Beach (aka LBC: Long Beach California) was a mainstay of live reggae in the early 90's, birthed Sublime, and has always had a ton of islanders as its inhabitants. Lucky us.

Long Beach Walk Through Video - April 2014 - By the Sea

Long Beach Pike April 2014 by Frankie Tease I'm back in touch with my hometown Long Beach, CA. During my recent trip there, I took some photos and video of what's going on during Saturday 4/5 and 6. There was a lot of preparation in progress for the Grand Prix next week, the Congressional Cup was there on the beach front, people were madly wake-boarding or windsurfing (I do not know the difference), and the sun was out accompanied by the famous ocean breeze. Hopefully this will tell some of the show goers to Ink N Iron what the town is like before their arrival for the June car show and music festival at the Queen Mary. The Queen is pictured in the video too.

Beloved Burlesque Legend and Legacy Dixie Evans Deceased at 86

Story by Frankie Tease Dixie-signed photograph courtesy of Melody Sweets, Las Vegas. Intro: A Burlesque Legend Passes Dixie Evans has passed away August 3, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV, born Long Beach, CA, August 28, 1926. The Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque , long-time American strip-tease artist, showgirl, performer, organizer, legend and icon did many things that inspired many people. In fact, a group had planned Dixie Evans Week to be held later this month as a fundraiser for her medical needs. Shows would - and still will - take place all over the nation, and world, to fundraise for Dixie Evans. Before that effort could meet her medical needs post-stroke in a Las Vegas facility, she passed-away. There is more to that story here, and information about the fundraiser and how you can participate to help give toward her final arrangements. Dixie lived an active life most recently in the press in the 90's, carrying on the collection of artifacts of strippers throu

"Chubby Surf" Boards Create Design Waves in Vegas and on Two Coasts

an interview by Frankie Tease. After seeing "Surf the Musical", the Broadway-level production that was at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas during August 2012, I couldn't help wonder how they got the $10 Million in props ready for the show (Read my show review ). Sure, the multi-media aspect of it's glimmering L.E.D. backdrops were fascinating, and the cars too, but I couldn't help fixating on the organic craft of restoring old vintage surfboards. After all, surfers are an amazing group of people, and the boards reminded me of great times in California growing up. The musical had surfboards as tables, surfboards as surfboards (that thing you surf on in the ocean), decorations on walls, and even surfboards as advertising in kiosks outside the theater (pictured left - and how clever).  After a little searching, I found out the surfboards were made by the guy from " Chubby Surf"  ( Dear John, Shark Week, Austin City Limits Festival, Long Be
