Strip Tease Expert Jo Weldon Visits Vegas Burlesque Studio

Photo Credit: Scott Shuster As I entered the LVBC studio, I saw about 15 female students filling up the seats as New York City's Jo Weldon lectured. The topic they came to learn was two-fold. One: How to Be Prepared for Press, Producers, and Festival Applications was available during the first segment and Two: Striptease Expertise for the latter half which is billed as Weldon's signature class. An amazingly low rate of $30 was asked for the two classes combined, or $20 taken separately. The award-winning founder of the New York School of Burlesque, Weldon has written the first known 'how to' book on Burlesque entitled The Burlesque Handbook [HarperCollins/ItBooks 2010]. Widely recognized as a leading expert in today's modern world of Strip Tease and Burlesque, this is Weldon's first time teaching at any Vegas studio. The students were varied: young, old, tall, thin, heavy, casual, to fixed-up pin-ups, just proving Burlesque and Weldon's w

Lalas Burlesque: Naughty Rock Barbies, As Seen on TV

a show review by Frankie Tease Let's get it straight. The Lala's (Los Angeles) aren't trying to be anything but their own style of Burelsque, and they use American Rock N' Roll as the vehicle it's couched in. The troupe is all about fun, as is their show which I caught Saturday August 25, 2012 at the Palms Lounge in Las Vegas. The ingredients needed to be a Lala? A gorgeous body, your own TV credits and successful dance career, sexiness, a sense of comedy, and a little bit of irony. Producer Choreographer and Creator Erin Lamont started the contemporary burlesque collection of star dancers on a whim after visiting a bar in Manhattan Beach, CA. for a Burlesque Show. Erin turned to her husband (early 2011) and said "I can do that".  Yes, she could and has done it. With degrees in Marketing and Dance, Lamont's credits are fairly astonishing, including: CSI, Miss Universe, People's Choice Awards, Disney, AMC, Playboy... wait, Playboy? Ther

Las Vegas Burlesque Hall of Fame Deals with Hwy.15 Widening and Eminent Domain

Photo of Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend,  Sat. June 2, 2012, by Cory of Blue Hair Media The Burlesque Hall of Fame just wrapped up its 22nd edition of the Weekend Festivities in June, only to be informed soon thereafter that their storage facility is smack dab in the middle of a Hwy.15 expansion here in Las Vegas, Nevada. The deadline ends August 31, 2012. A heated campaign fundraising is under-way at Indigogo  to help accommodate the rarities that are housed in storage, and to take the opportunity to move to a more expansive space. A mission statement on the BHOF website (BurlesqueHall.com) states clearly what the Non-Profit organization -of which the museum is only a part- is all about. "The Burlesque Hall of Fame is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to inspire, educate and entertain the public, fostering an appreciation for and understanding of the unique history and heritage of vintage American Burlesque–including but not limited to the art, a

Cha Cha Velour, the 2nd Annual Man Show, and Burlesque Bingo 3/31-4/7

Burlesque: The 2nd Annual Man Show  is Sat. Mar. 31 , 8pm/11pm Cha Cha Velour    has taken over the Boom Boom Room at Boomers bar for her monthly off-strip burlesque production "Live Burlesque in Las Vegas" for some time. Best known for her involvement with the Burlesque Hall of Fame (Las Vegas)  Cha Cha Velour (not to be confused with Chi Chi Rivera) has earned her place in the 'Burlesque Community' since 2006 as one of the few dancers and enthusiats who live in Las Vegas actually practicing the art form. Our hero is also an organizer, despite working her full-time job in the medical field. Some of 2011's amazing accomplishments for Cha Cha Velour include opening her own Las Vegas dance studio, and being named among the top 50 ( #42 ) by the readers of 21st Century Burlesque Magazine,  which is a Magazine that has published timely articles for years about what performers really want to know, and top stage news about upcoming festivals. As for the new stud
