Fast Fun Times with The Frank's & Deans - Las Vegas - A Review

The Franks & Deans - Las Vegas,NV Mar. 2014 As I walked into the Pandora Lounge in Las Vegas, I saw a mild-mannered mix of audience loungers distributed throughout the place while the band was on break. Some were playing Wii bowling, while waiting for their second of three sets from local talents the "Franks & Deans". An homage to earlier lounge greats, the band calls themselves the "Punk Rock Rat Pack", and rightly so. The band are made up of Rob DeTie (bass, singer, band leader), PIP (drums), Tyler Newton (rhythm guitar) and eldest member still in his early 30's and married, Hoss (guitar, vocals) (Hard Rock Las Vegas, Reverend Horton Heat crew) .

Live DVD Taping for Frankie Moreno a Smash Success, Feb. 11, 2014 - Las Vegas Stratosphere

Director Peter Berkow and Frankie Moreno Celebrate Feb. 11, 2014 It was Tuesday February 11, 2014 in Las Vegas. The Showroom at the Stratosphere Hotel (the tallest structure in Las Vegas, Nevada) was the place to be that night, as a call had recently been put out to fans of Frankie Moreno, that he wanted them to show "dressed up and loud" for his upcoming live taping with his amazing high energy band. This is the band that plays Wed. through Sat. shows together. Brother Ricky Moreno gave stamps on hands as people mobbed the entrance and free show, on a non-show night, a Tuesday.

Frankie Tease Magazine is Going National

For Immediate Release Sept. 15, 2013. Over the last five years, I have spent many off-hours covering in person and then writing about the entertainment field and stage, related to burlesque, comedy, and music and the culture surrounding them. I studied English Composition in Pasadena at PCC circa 1994-1997, did tons of event production, then began seriously as a columnist in Portland, Oregon circa 2009,  all the while writing my own show copy, press releases, and helping others with the same. I have spent two years now (as of September) doing this job in Las Vegas and am in my fourth year producing (usually) a weekly article with photos and an interview of my subject or an editorial piece and have been published by Examiner.com, (online) Vegas Seven (print),  "The Best of Frankie Tease Magazine" ebooks Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (Bookbaby / iTunes, Amazon, Nook), The Guardian Express LV (print), and other smaller unmentionable publications. I am finding that it is still important

Sexy, Sultry, Playmate Claire Sinclair is the Jewel of Pinup at Stratosphere Las Vegas

The long awaited Pinup Red Carpet event finally came. Two months into working it out the show buzz had been going strong about what type of late night Vegas show this was going to be. First, the show's star Claire Sinclair is perhaps the youngest on the Las Vegas Strip. Though Sinclair has been featured in a suggestive show (Crazy Horse Paris, MGM) this is the first time she's a resident star. With this, she has accomplished going from Print Media to carrying the weight of a Vegas show, all before reaching 22. Delightfully, Sinclair acts as the host of a retro romp through a virtual year of Calendar Girls using the maelstrom of talent in the six piece backing band featuring Trumpeter and Music Director David Perrico, as well as a spectacular singer Anne Martinez. The cast is filled out by four dancers, one lead male, six band members, one singer, and star Claire Sinclair. That's a "lucky 13" cast members. The show creators Drew DiCostanzo and Frankie Mor

Photo Focus: Viva Las Vegas 16 Rockabilly Weekender Sunday: Satin Dollz, Dance Contest, VIP Classic Cars

The Sunday portion of Viva Las Vegas commenced with those who could still walk and operate all of their bodily functions. Miles of walking, drinks, mingling with old friends, seeing more shows than you could in a month, were taking their toll on members attending VLV16 by Sunday. But the coveted dance contest hadn't yet taken place, the Satin Dollz weekend closing show, nor had I taken pictures of the VIP cars which had the coveted spots as you enter the Orleans Hotel. Here it all is. Not all really, just a sampling by photo and video. Full reviews of VLV16 are forthcoming on this website and our ebook series. Check out the other two books with Viva interviews and reviews at  http://www.frankietease.com/p/ebooks.html   , ebooks that is.  The classic car VIP section had many styles of oldies represented.  The last show in the Orleans Showroom to take place had a great attendence, and after seeing the show, I now know why. It was the surprise of the weekend for me.

For Ms. Redd, the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender Burlesque Competition is Personal

Ms. Redd (LV) by Holly West, (LA) Ms. Redd has a vintage look and style that hearkens to Ann Margaret and Liz Taylor, in that she's classy, yet smoldering. She has a name for herself in print pinup magazines mostly by her alias Ms. Redd. We met up at a class being given in Las Vegas by Jo Weldon January 2013, though I'd followed her on various social media sites and youtube for at least a year. I wondered and asked her if I could follow her as an artist and subject in a two part interview leading into her entrance as a contestant into Viva Las Vegas 16's Burlesque Competition (the winner to be crowned Miss Viva Las Vegas 2013), and do a follow-up interview on how it all comes out as well as attempt to cover her experience the Saturday Night in March coming up on the 30th. (Note: you need four-day pass tickets to see this contest so if you don't have them quickly visit vivalasvegas.net and secure that, then return here to read this article). When I asked Ms.

Yellow Checker Star Vegas Cab Strike Begins Day Two

The wind was up this spring night as hundreds of workers began day two of their strike on Yellow Checker Star Cab Company in Las Vegas, Nevada. The headquarters are situated somewhat near the strip at Decatur and Post Road. Some people (females and males) had been there for 12 hours or more striking, and greeting workers who hadn't heard about the strike with chants of "turn around" as they drove in to work. Those who went to work and didn't stand in unity with the striking workers were greeted with "shame on you". What do they want? A raise and respect. When do they want it? Now . View video and photos of my hour with the workers below. Tidbits and Teasers: Faux Ice Rink at The Venetian, The Cosmo Gets Iced, Hangover III on Fremont St.

The Venetian's Faux Ice Rink is Back The second year of Winter in Venice is getting under way this week at the Venetian. Enjoy ice skating, gondola rides, and live outdoor and indoor free events as well as glowing L.E.D spectacularness during the most wonderful time of the year. What's unique is that the skate rink atop the water in front of the Italian-themed resort is actually recycled polymer (no ice was created in the making of this rink). The rubber-like surface is treated with oil to remain slick for skating. I saw the rehearsal for the skate shows which will be offered free twice per night Nov. 18 - Jan. 6, 2012. Skate rentals will be available for willing participants. Real Ice Skating Rink at the Cosmopolitan Looks like the Cosmopolitan is getting in on the skate rink action this year, only with real ice in place of their Boulevard Pool . The Cosmo starts their festivities Nov. 30 post Thanksgiving Day, through Jan. 20, well past the New Year. Children over a

Burlesque Producer, Author, Entrepreneur Jac Bowie is Seeing Red - A Book Preview by Frankie Tease

Jac Bowie and her children by Alexia Sinclair There is no disputing Australia's involvement in reviving classic burlesque, and in bringing neo-burlesque to its current stage-show popularity. One prominent beauty playing a large role in this drama is  Jac Bowie of Australia. I first wrote about Bowie back in 2010, focusing on her successful international burlesque talent agency, one of the only in the world. A Burlesque Personality, Mom, and Performer turned Producer and Entrepreneur, Jac Bowie has been deeply involved in the sexy side of show business since 2004 and is set to release a tell-all book entitled  " Business in Heels ".   Bowie's first ever book is slated to publish December of 2012. Jac Bowie has been involved in the  Burelsque Hall of Fame Weekend in Vegas for many years, though she is retired from burlesque and has gone back to the mainstream arts. One of the audiences loudest responses at the BHOF Weekender 2012 was to the Stage Door Johnnie

The Blue Man Group Skydive Into New Monte Carlo Home, Las Vegas

Festivities kicked off at the back of the Monte Carlo property around 10 am, on Wednesday Oct. 10, 2012. Workers, press, and public were seen gathering to take in what was heralded as the Blue Man Group skydiving into the Monte Carlo (Las Vegas, Nevada). As I approached the area, everyone was focused on the plane circling above. Soon, five men had jumped from the plane and were air-born (three Blue Men and two auxiliary men), barely visible - just specs in the sky -they slowly descended toward land. As they came into view overhead they appeared to have an accelerate trail behind them. Red Bull parachutes became visible and one by one The Blue Men navigated through blue skies and low winds onto a huge plastic blue tarp on the cement acting as their landing area. It was short, and very ambitious. They arrived to great applause and moments after, they began posing for photos with Mayor Oscar Goodman and his showgirls, Co-Creators of the Blue Man Group: Chris Wick and Phil Stant

The First Ever "Las Vegas Comic Expo" Enjoys Success, Rated All Ages

Congratulations are in order to Organizers Charles Lee and Rob Lee who just pulled-off a well- attended brand new event in our fair city: Las Vegas Comic Expo (LVCE). The event spanned Saturday and Sunday Sept. 29 and 30, 2012 at the Riviera Hotel. The Expo held special guests (tons), lectures, a large exhibit floor with 11am book signings, an adult and childrens' cosplay contest, and continuous gaming, as well as lots of roving character models. It wasn't  as large as Comic-con in its inception, but it sure looks like it's going to be one of those Las Vegas favorites to stick around for years to come, and one that will grow on locals and visitors alike. Over 50 stars were on-hand for panels on comics, art, writing, and storytelling. The top-billed were Thomas Jane (Watchmen), and Tricia Helfner (Sexy #6 from Battlestar Galactica). The panels were star-studded with special guests sprinkled among the presenters. During the day announcements were made about each panel
