Veteran Vegas Comic Diaz Mackie Launches "Bad Decisions" Tour, and Won't Tell His Porn Name

Diaz Mackie at Sapphire Comedy Hour Vegas  now on "Bad Decisions" Tour - Photo by Frankie Tease A little over a year ago I saw a couple sets from Diaz Mackie and saw how much he was versatile with every audience. He had been in Vegas working hard for over seven years. Recently he came back to do a week, and I caught up with him at the Sapphire Comedy Hour at Sapphire Strip Club on Industrial. The room was pretty great, and his set was hilarious. I caught some video, photos, and later caught some patio time with this now very national headlining touring comedian. One of the questions is "what is Diaz Mackie's porn name"? Need I say more? FT: How do you keep your material original, fresh? DM:They come from me. I come off of my own experiences and exaggerate it. I take something from every day and make notes. FT:Do you write a lot down? DM:I don't. I take mental notes. FT:You don't write your ideas down? Do you have a photographic

Sapphire Comedy Hour - Surprise: A Strip Club with Good Entertainment

I was invited by the headliner to interview him at a new to me comedy show in Vegas. I understood this, it was a comedy show at a strip club. Being an ex-stripper, I liked the idea right away. Little did I know it was star-studded with variety acts and comedians. Awesome. I walked through the strip club. Not just any, it's the largest strip club in the world which also features male strippers. Topless dancers were working to my left as I was escorted by the concierge to the showroom separate from the main floor. The showroom was huge. This is the room that houses the male review at 10pm, but preceding it was the comedy show which is a weekly Friday 8:00pm show.  A local comedian Ricky Byrne (Host of Mood Comedy Dinner Show at the Artisan Hotel Las Vegas) was the feature of the show and started things off with some urban humor. I guessed he was Puerto Rican, and definitely too good looking to be a comedian, yet also funny. He gave way to variety act Seth Grable (Wolf Theater, C

Tidbits and Teasers: Jennifer Keith at Chandelier, Gooch at Laugh Factory, Royal Crown Revue at Cannery

"Gooch" hosts a comedy show at  Laugh Factory this month. Jennifer Keith Swings in Style The fact that Keith's Great Grandfather put the K in RKO may have a bearing on her cherishing the vocal style of Patsy Cline, and Patty Page, and she features the  hit standard "Bei Mir Bist Du Shon" at live performances and on her album. The band is masterminded by Royal Crown Revue's own Mondo Durame the sexiest saxophonist around (really). Free shows at the Cosmopolitan are a part of this five year outfit's semi-regular visits to Vegas now (and isn't Vegas so lucky), including Mar. 21, 8- 10:30pm, and Mar. 22 and 23, 9-12:30, and Mar. 24 from 8-10:30. Few pairings could be more delectable than this songstress' voice and her amazingly talented vintage standard backing band Local Funny Radio Guy "Gooch" Hosts at Laugh Factory Brandon "Gooch" Hahn will host two oustanding comedians at the Laugh Factory at Tropicana during

New Vegas Comedy Show at LVH "Comedy After Dark" Stays Strong in Third Month with Host Anthony Padilla

photo courtesy of lasvegas-nv.com What's it take for a local professional comedian to get a gig in the town of Las Vegas? It takes talent and hard work. Spending over a year opening for Louie Anderson at his own club, this stand-up gent finally has his own gig. Anthony Padilla headlines the new show (a few months old) called Comedy After Dark  Thursday through Sunday at the Shimmer Lounge at LVH , just off-strip. Now he gets to make fun of the times he spent with Louie Anderson, and to bring his compadres and travelling mega-comedians from all over the country. Though he introduces other guests this doesn't diminish the talent he brings including his famous biting wit and story-telling. Padilla has previously appeared on The CW Network, A&E, The History Channel, and Lifetime to name a few. Now, he has his own headliner show and also does a radio show weekly with Scott Prichard on Vegas Video Network (a show about sports betting). Padilla knows a thing or two abo

Rita Rudner Remains Vegas Stand-Up Champ after 50

Rita Rudner (58) Courtesy of lifeafter50.com  The longest running, most-successful one person comedy show in the history of Las Vegas is Rita Rudner. Having sold over 50 million tickets to her shows, she's doing something right. Creating believable, intrinsic, observational humor, Rita has entertained audiences in droves and shows no signs of slowing. Unlike a lot of comedians today, she hasn't come through SNL or Comedy Central. Crediting Woody Allen and Jack Benny as her inspirations, she has a biting wit and sarcasm spoken in a warm friendly tone. But Rudner didn't get her show biz start in comedy. Once a New York Broadway dancer, she saw how short-lived their careers were and made the move at age 25 to 'learning to talk'. She encourages people to be realistic and not always follow their dreams now. "Is your dream your nightmare? Be realistic" she quipped in a Conn TV interview. That's advice from a woman who has practiced what she's

Murray Sawchuck (39) exemplifies being hungry to perform and raise the art you're involved in to the public's eye. The prolific TV and film star only takes a break from his grueling almost daily Las Vegas show appearance schedule to do more shows - this time in Australia- and that's after he just filmed five episodes of a new kids TV series called "The Jadagrace Show". Not to worry. Even though the show goes dark until its Oct. 1 return, Murray will still offer his spectacular magical madness at the Laugh Factory at Tropicana. Put this quirky talked-about show on your calendar as a local Vegas favorite. Norm McDonald Back at Standing-Up, Appearing at Orleans Hotel, Las Vegas, Aug. 10,11, 2012

Many of us recognize the name Norm Macdonald from the 80's and 90's when he had a long run as a comedic actor on Saturday Night Live. His stint as anchor of the hilarious 'weekend update' recurring act on SNL, came after he was one of the comedy writers on the NBC show.  A couple decades have given way to a generation of people who love the odd-styled Canadian. His wit is dry and absurd at the same time, his timing impeccable after years of working with TV and comedy greats like Roseanne Barr, Dennis Leary, Artie Lange, Will Farrell, and the Producer of SNL: Loren Michaels, to name a few. Some of the impressions that may have stuck with audiences most include Bob Dole (hilarious) and Burt Reynolds (classic stuff!). Macdonald is currently the star of the "Sports Show with Norm Macdonald" on Comedy Central, where he dissects topical sports news, funnily. Catch his 2012 tour with two nights at the beautiful Orleans Showroom only. I'm sure this sh

Rob Riggle creates more than a Giggle May 10-12 at the Paris, Las Vegas

His successful jump from sketch comedy to Stand-up came in 2006, when he toured nationally with now famous John Oliver and other Daily Show writers. Sarcasm is his middle name, and his delivery never falters. You may have also seen him on Saturday Night Live circa 1994/5, among the many other TV appearances and roles he's played. Rob Riggle Jr . has also appeared in several box office success films including 'The Hangover'. He's known for tying in jokes and skits about his actual role as a  Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps . He uses his knowledge to act as the 'Military Analyst' on the Daily Show with John Stewart , a character that gets endless mileage and laughs. His stand-up videos indicate he's a top-notch story teller. Burlesque and Comedy: Susanna Lee aka Lucky Deluxe Interview

Lucky Deluxe by Vixxen Photography Frankie Tease sat down to chat with nationally touring burlesque dancer and stand-up comedian Susanna Lee aka Lucky Deluxe . She dishes about audiences across the nation, producing burlesque shows, performing Stand-up since 1996, and how she put burlesque in her stand-up and is bringing it to major comedy clubs. This popular act isn't only disastrously pretty and curvaceous, but smart as a whip. Here is what 'Lucky' had to say. FT: Where are you from? LD: I am originally from Kansas City, but spent years in Chicago and Portland as well, and currently live in LA.,CA. FT: How long have you been performing stand-up comedy? LD: I've been a professionally touring stand-up comic since 1996. FT: Stand-up comedy is so male driven , what or who inspired you to become a stand-up comic?
