Planet Hollywood Welcomes "Loberace" a CeeLo Green Vegas Show

The new Planet Hollywood headliner show Loberace is the brainchild of famed American singer CeeLo Green (born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway May 30, 1974). The new show is a tribute to American pianist Liberace. On March 27, the Las Vegas Strip was halted briefly for the arrival of CeeLo on a truck with a burning piano. Twitter was aflutter with photos of eye-witnesses to the madness, as he arrived and cemented his hand prints in clay, flanked by the Jubilee Dancers from nearby Bally's Hotel. Loberace features CeeLo Green as the ringmaster who'll take fans through decades of music covers, including Prince and the Rolling Stones, as well as his own original music. Let's face it, CeeLo has had a few hits like "F*%ck You" and "Crazy", the latter which was produced by his duo Gnarls Barkley. He is most recently known for his role on NBC's "The Voice", and he's also famous for working on Santana's "Supernatural" album (with L

Photo Focus: Valentines Eve on Fremont Street Vegas 2013

This double date was spotted livin' it up on Fremont Street Eve of 2013. Looks like the roarin' 20's was their agreed upon theme, and a fun night was had. Careful, one of the ladies had a faux machine gun in the era's style. Beautiful D Hotel outside bar dancer poses for us on Fremont Street 2013. Cocktails anyone? This gorgeous neon sits atop the edge of the Commonwealth. It's near the El Cortez on Fremont Street and has a beautiful top floor patio for sipping their offered upscale cocktails.

Barr is famous for her TV shows, and will now be holding the dinner slot at the newly renovated Hotel's comedy club. Visiting headliner shows will remain at 8 and 10pm at Vegas Laugh Factory. It is indeed getting busier for the club since its 2012 open. Bill's Gambling Hall Closes for Improvement Bill's Gambling Hall has been closed for renovation to be reopened in 2014 (Bill's is across from Bally's, Bellagio, and Ceaser's at Flamingo). Burlesque History Comes in Sweets' Release

A Debut Album Event Review of Melody Sweets  "Burlesque in the Black" The highly anticipated debut album show was built up with adverts in Las Vegas over several weeks and each major paper in town had done their preview. The star had just released her debut album of originals after well over a year of success as the headliner in what has been voted "Best Show" many times over. The show is a turn-of-the century tribute with live singing and strip tease by Sweets, and world-class acrobatics at-close-range, combined with wild and inappropriate humor by Host the Gazillionaire and Side-kick Sock Puppet Queen Penny Pibbets. Flesh and skill are what holds the show together as well as more up-close views of  aerials than any Cirque show ever offered. The unabashed sexiness that Sweets exudes for Absinthe is obviously the natural resting place for the artist in her own original music. The release party and show began with a video intro where co-star

Making Sense of Las Vegas Burlesque and Topless Shows (with a list)

Miss Banbury Cross of England at BHOF 2012 by Cory Royer What's Happening with Burlesque in Las Vegas? The term "Las Vegas Burlesque" is one I recently heard used by a Producer to describe the brand that has become the norm for the art form on the Vegas Strip. This particular brand is more like the Victoria's Secret models than anything you may have seen in the 40's. There aren't always tributes to vintage characters, they might not even be stripping. Also, you may not always have the advantage of clarity about the shows from teaser ads. I'll try to help. While we can all be glad that it isn't amateur night on the strip and that you are guaranteed a high profile star with a hard body, some say it doesn't make sense to use the word Burlesque in a lot of cases to describe shows here on the Strip. It's a bit confusing, let's be frank.  A Genre Struggling with Who it Is Ever since the film "Burlesque" came out which brought C

Photo Monday: Gilles Marini of Dancing with the Stars Fame Appeared at Vegas Venetian

Gilles Marini poses for Frankie Tease Magazine at the kick-off of Winter in Venice at the Vegas Venetian. Marini appeared with his wife and children. His daughter took to the Venetian's skate rink for some fun, and his family posed outdoors on the Winter Queen's podium for the holiday festivities and posed with fans for photos. Gilles is famous for his part on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" where he won 2nd place in 2009. He also played a role of Dante in "Sex and the City", as well as many other prominent television series. Winter in Venice goes through Jan.6, 2013 at the Vegas Venetian with free festivities outdoors, and related shows at the theaters. "Groovin' High Orchestra" at House of Blues Mandalay Bay Dec. 4, 2012

The Chandler Judkins Groovin' High Orchestra Well I've heard there was swing dancing in Vegas, but so far never found it.  Until now, I thought swing dancing in Vegas might be just a desert mirage. Alas, it is not so thanks to Swingin' Tuesdays at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. I wouldn't have known about it in my circles unless I had attended the Frankie Moreno Live show at the Stratosphere last week. In chatting with the Trumpet player, I found out there were regular nights in Vegas to dance and see Swing to, and one is coming up in December. You'll be in good hands with The "Groovin' High Orchestra". A free show with a Burlesque dancer, and continuous open dance floor to swing on. I have it on good authority that dancers show up too. Well, at least the trumpet player who I mentioned earlier says so. His name is Chandler Judkins .  Mandalay Bay is a large hotel and casino in Vegas located near the Luxor on Las Vegas Blvd. and Mandal

Tidbits and Teasers: Faux Ice Rink at The Venetian, The Cosmo Gets Iced, Hangover III on Fremont St.

The Venetian's Faux Ice Rink is Back The second year of Winter in Venice is getting under way this week at the Venetian. Enjoy ice skating, gondola rides, and live outdoor and indoor free events as well as glowing L.E.D spectacularness during the most wonderful time of the year. What's unique is that the skate rink atop the water in front of the Italian-themed resort is actually recycled polymer (no ice was created in the making of this rink). The rubber-like surface is treated with oil to remain slick for skating. I saw the rehearsal for the skate shows which will be offered free twice per night Nov. 18 - Jan. 6, 2012. Skate rentals will be available for willing participants. Real Ice Skating Rink at the Cosmopolitan Looks like the Cosmopolitan is getting in on the skate rink action this year, only with real ice in place of their Boulevard Pool . The Cosmo starts their festivities Nov. 30 post Thanksgiving Day, through Jan. 20, well past the New Year. Children over a

Tidbits and Teasers: Guns N Roses: Paradise City, Cirque Opens Zarkana at Aria, Aviation Nation Air Show

Guns 'N Roses at Hard Rock G and R kicked off its "Appetite For Democracy," stent at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino amid controversy Saturday. Last week in honor of the bands' residency during Nov., City Commissioner Beth Scow named Paradise Road "Paradise City" Road. She bit off more than she could chew when discovering the explicit scene on the poster was not exactly complimentary to women or Sin City. A revised graphic from their Appetite for Destruction album, the scene showed a woman just sexually assaulted, panties around her calves, and robots nearby all under the famous Las Vegas sign. G 'N R play through end of November. It's just art, right? (Breaking News: G N R controversial poster removed ( via  http://loudwire.com/controversial-las-vegas-guns-n-roses-posters-removed/ ). Cirque De Soleil's Zarkana finds home at Aria A visually stunning acrobatic spectacular, the massive set and expensive cast of Zarkana are now

Las Vegas Tropicana Resort Makes Southbeach Renovation Comeback

FrankieTeaseFoto of Ness at Tropicana Vegas The Las Vegas Tropicana Resort & Casino has changed hands many times, but that hasn't slowed its popularity. Located at the intersections of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana, it holds one of the most densely populated hotel intersection corners in the world. It also holds many points of curiosity for Vintage Vegas lovers and new visitors alike. Since 1957 it has seen many famous films shot on-site including the ever popular Viva Las Vegas with Ann Margaret and Elvis Presley, and The Godfather II . It has never veered very far from its original Cuban theme, and has most recently been bought and remodel by Alex Yemenidjian's Armenco Holdings (2009).  The $165 Million South Beach style remodel was reported to be a three-phase job from 2009-2011. The remodel has brought a lot of changes including a lot more white. "It's all about the white" one clerk told me as I took photos of the new front desk. The count

Rita Rudner Remains Vegas Stand-Up Champ after 50

Rita Rudner (58) Courtesy of lifeafter50.com  The longest running, most-successful one person comedy show in the history of Las Vegas is Rita Rudner. Having sold over 50 million tickets to her shows, she's doing something right. Creating believable, intrinsic, observational humor, Rita has entertained audiences in droves and shows no signs of slowing. Unlike a lot of comedians today, she hasn't come through SNL or Comedy Central. Crediting Woody Allen and Jack Benny as her inspirations, she has a biting wit and sarcasm spoken in a warm friendly tone. But Rudner didn't get her show biz start in comedy. Once a New York Broadway dancer, she saw how short-lived their careers were and made the move at age 25 to 'learning to talk'. She encourages people to be realistic and not always follow their dreams now. "Is your dream your nightmare? Be realistic" she quipped in a Conn TV interview. That's advice from a woman who has practiced what she's

Las Vegas 2012 Halloween Choices Range From Mild to Wild

With so many options of what to do for Halloween in Vegas, it pays to check out all the choices in advance (though a stroll through the Strip or Fremont St. will be endlessly entertaining). Si Cranstoun's "Dance Halls and Supper Clubs"? The Boys Done Good.

I n 2012, Si Cranstoun came to Las Vegas and played the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender as his first ever U.S. gig. (It was love at first tune for both fans and band, and he's billed again for 2013). That's when I saw the wild audience response to the man and his band.  Is it possible to experience instant nostalgia for that which you have never heard?  Such was the case for me with Si Cranstoun (UK). His live show is like a recording of Doo Wop or Swing Music by Jackie Wilson, Nat King Cole, or at times the power vocals of Sammy Davis Jr.  Si Cranstoun  has just released his new album "Dance Halls & Supper Clubs, Limited Edition" (2012 Galley Music) featuring ten songs and two bonus tracks. What's fascinating about it is that Si is the Composer, Vocalist, and Producer [Engineered by Jon Radford and Si Cranstoun, Mastered by Guy Davie of Electric Mastering], and with all that autonomy, it still sounds amazing. His fifth album effort includ

The Blue Man Group Skydive Into New Monte Carlo Home, Las Vegas

Festivities kicked off at the back of the Monte Carlo property around 10 am, on Wednesday Oct. 10, 2012. Workers, press, and public were seen gathering to take in what was heralded as the Blue Man Group skydiving into the Monte Carlo (Las Vegas, Nevada). As I approached the area, everyone was focused on the plane circling above. Soon, five men had jumped from the plane and were air-born (three Blue Men and two auxiliary men), barely visible - just specs in the sky -they slowly descended toward land. As they came into view overhead they appeared to have an accelerate trail behind them. Red Bull parachutes became visible and one by one The Blue Men navigated through blue skies and low winds onto a huge plastic blue tarp on the cement acting as their landing area. It was short, and very ambitious. They arrived to great applause and moments after, they began posing for photos with Mayor Oscar Goodman and his showgirls, Co-Creators of the Blue Man Group: Chris Wick and Phil Stant

Las Vegas Neon Museum & Boneyard [photos] Officially Opens to Public Oct. 27, 2012

There is a small niche of Las Vegas Blvd. which visitors may not have heard about. It's called the Historic Cultural Corridor. It runs along Las Vegas Blvd. N, between Bonanza and Washington. Funny, because that's the part of the map I carved out to find out where the Neon Museum is located on my exploratory photo visit (though it's currently closed to visitors until Oct. 27). I ended up letting the GPS do the work. You can also just follow Las Vegas Blvd. heading north, and use signs to Cashman Center, or the Natural History Museum. You will see the large iconic sign boasting the new remodeled venue. The Neon Museum is in good company and belongs to a coalition dedicated to promoting and restoring this historic area of Las Vegas [ http://www.culturalcorridorvegas.org/  ]. The Neon Museum, though established in 1996, has been growing steadily in its procurement of signs and acreage. It's newer location includes the lobby building of the famous Las Vegas La Conc
