LA Comedy Club Keeps Going and Going and Going, Las Vegas

Shawn Halpin Headlined LA Comedy Club 6/20/13  Photo by Frankie Tease Joaquin Trujillo and Matt Chavez have had the LA Comedy Club (Las Vegas) brand since 2007. In those six years they have danced through many worthy venues in town, always keeping a great lineup of local, regional, and national talent. Why else would they be able to pull off six shows a week? It all started at Palace Station, moved to Trader Vics and when Trader Vics closed down, they went on to the Four Queens for two years downtown, then moved back to Cabo Wabo to reclaim their spot (same spot at Trader Vics, different operator). Now it's traversed to Bally's. Trujillo stated "We are kind of a hybrid, we cater to tourists, but we have always catered to locals as well. They always get a two for one ticket price, and we issue special tickets to locals who have always supported us when we invite them on down". It's also worth mentioning that they have an all-you-can-drink special at every

Photo Focus: Pinups for Patriots Calendar Casting Event at Pinup Pointe Gallery - First Friday May, 2013

This first friday was pretty special for the troops and for a few lucky Las Vegas pinup models. Organizer Darby Fox (pictured right) facilitated a casting call for the 2014 calendar and a few judges (including two military men) helped figure out (pun intended) who should be in the calendar.  Host Pinup Pointe Gallery which specializes in showgirl and pinup art from local, national and international artists got pretty packed with fans and onlookers throughout the night. The national organization has several branches. Many of the entrants who were involved in the competition were actually enlisted military or belong to military families. This isn't just a rouse, it's the real deal. Patriots serving overseas and all over the world have their spirits lifted by these beautiful girls. To buy the calendar or get involved and find out more about the orginization, please visit  http://www.pinupsforpatriots.com/ .  As their mission states, it's not just a calendar, it&#

Photo Focus: "Hipster Hater" at First Friday May 3, 2013

This Las Vegas local and tattoo artist is serious about his hipster hating. I just laughed at his t-shirt, and snapped a pic. When I did so, he began to tell me that he rarely makes it downtown anymore because it's becoming overrun with hipsters. Wow really? I didn't know that. This guy had a pretty strong opinion about it though. Now you know. Mr. Moore is a senior tattoo artist and LV local. 4.3.13. Photo by Frankie Tease

Veteran Vegas Comic Diaz Mackie Launches "Bad Decisions" Tour, and Won't Tell His Porn Name

Diaz Mackie at Sapphire Comedy Hour Vegas  now on "Bad Decisions" Tour - Photo by Frankie Tease A little over a year ago I saw a couple sets from Diaz Mackie and saw how much he was versatile with every audience. He had been in Vegas working hard for over seven years. Recently he came back to do a week, and I caught up with him at the Sapphire Comedy Hour at Sapphire Strip Club on Industrial. The room was pretty great, and his set was hilarious. I caught some video, photos, and later caught some patio time with this now very national headlining touring comedian. One of the questions is "what is Diaz Mackie's porn name"? Need I say more? FT: How do you keep your material original, fresh? DM:They come from me. I come off of my own experiences and exaggerate it. I take something from every day and make notes. FT:Do you write a lot down? DM:I don't. I take mental notes. FT:You don't write your ideas down? Do you have a photographic

Sexy, Sultry, Playmate Claire Sinclair is the Jewel of Pinup at Stratosphere Las Vegas

The long awaited Pinup Red Carpet event finally came. Two months into working it out the show buzz had been going strong about what type of late night Vegas show this was going to be. First, the show's star Claire Sinclair is perhaps the youngest on the Las Vegas Strip. Though Sinclair has been featured in a suggestive show (Crazy Horse Paris, MGM) this is the first time she's a resident star. With this, she has accomplished going from Print Media to carrying the weight of a Vegas show, all before reaching 22. Delightfully, Sinclair acts as the host of a retro romp through a virtual year of Calendar Girls using the maelstrom of talent in the six piece backing band featuring Trumpeter and Music Director David Perrico, as well as a spectacular singer Anne Martinez. The cast is filled out by four dancers, one lead male, six band members, one singer, and star Claire Sinclair. That's a "lucky 13" cast members. The show creators Drew DiCostanzo and Frankie Mor

24 hr.Vegas Strip Club Opens Day Club "Sapphire Pool", Cinco De Mayo Wknd. 2013

The largest topless strip club in the world just got larger, and it decided to go outside to expand. The club was 70,000 feet before and boasts topless dancers, and an all male review for the ladies in a separate showroom. It even has a comedy and variety show. Several stages, 400 entertainers and open 24 hours, many could ask how that could be improved. Enter the great outdoors. The $8 million day club is pretty swanky. The cabanas are lush and plenty. Comfort? Yes. Completely separate but visible VIP? Yes. On-site grill, tons of shower fountains and also lovely water falls mixed with a full bar and amazing service will obviously be one of the hottest new and lasting clubs in Las Vegas. The 800 capacity pool area will be a go-to spot, especially after the launch they have planned. What sets it apart? Dancers are not necessarily doing lap dances, but they will be making new friends and lounging at the pool in their off times says Shai Cohen one of the organizers. Toplessly. Y

Sapphire Comedy Hour - Surprise: A Strip Club with Good Entertainment

I was invited by the headliner to interview him at a new to me comedy show in Vegas. I understood this, it was a comedy show at a strip club. Being an ex-stripper, I liked the idea right away. Little did I know it was star-studded with variety acts and comedians. Awesome. I walked through the strip club. Not just any, it's the largest strip club in the world which also features male strippers. Topless dancers were working to my left as I was escorted by the concierge to the showroom separate from the main floor. The showroom was huge. This is the room that houses the male review at 10pm, but preceding it was the comedy show which is a weekly Friday 8:00pm show.  A local comedian Ricky Byrne (Host of Mood Comedy Dinner Show at the Artisan Hotel Las Vegas) was the feature of the show and started things off with some urban humor. I guessed he was Puerto Rican, and definitely too good looking to be a comedian, yet also funny. He gave way to variety act Seth Grable (Wolf Theater, C

The Lounge Sound of Jennifer Keith Quintet Revives Vegas Tradition at Cosmopolitan (Monthly)

Jennifer Keith Photo and Article by Frankie Tease Dominating the air waves in late 40's and early 50's you'd have found Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Wanda Jackson, and Keely Smith. Cut to present modern-day and I'll show you that the latter has special meaning in this particular story. The story starts in early 90's when a band began to permeate Hollywood bandstands, its name was Royal Crown Revue. Impeccable originals and new takes on oldies took the power-packed band around the world, and they have never stopped. The co-creator of that band is Mando Dorame, and he's the founder and tenor sax player for the Jennifer Keith Quintet. Jennifer Keith is a Los Angeles based singer who's been making waves in Vegas. Her great grandfather put the K in RKO, so her family is familiar with the entertainment business, and more, she's Hollywood royalty. But the talent is where people are raving about Keith, and rightly so. Dorame met Keith, now his fiance,

Photo Focus: Viva Las Vegas 16: Si Cranstoun

After the Viva Las Vegas 16 Weekender car show greatness ended, the party continued inside. Topping his performance from last year was Si Cranstoun. Commotion arose during his set and singing of his original tune "Right Girl", a doo wop splendor. Turns out someone was proposing to his 'right girl' in the middle of the dance floor. A moment we all shared. Si packed the Ballroom at the Orleans Hotel with standing room, massive swing dancers, and people gathering to listen in the hall outside. I believe the ballroom holds about 1,000. Lots of us remember Si from 2012 when he stole our hearts with his first U.S. performance. Read my complete in-depth exclusive stateside interview from this London-based entertainer who brings Jackie Wilson to life in our ebook the  Best of Frankie Tease Magazine Vol. 1 . For Ms. Redd, the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender Burlesque Competition is Personal

Ms. Redd (LV) by Holly West, (LA) Ms. Redd has a vintage look and style that hearkens to Ann Margaret and Liz Taylor, in that she's classy, yet smoldering. She has a name for herself in print pinup magazines mostly by her alias Ms. Redd. We met up at a class being given in Las Vegas by Jo Weldon January 2013, though I'd followed her on various social media sites and youtube for at least a year. I wondered and asked her if I could follow her as an artist and subject in a two part interview leading into her entrance as a contestant into Viva Las Vegas 16's Burlesque Competition (the winner to be crowned Miss Viva Las Vegas 2013), and do a follow-up interview on how it all comes out as well as attempt to cover her experience the Saturday Night in March coming up on the 30th. (Note: you need four-day pass tickets to see this contest so if you don't have them quickly visit vivalasvegas.net and secure that, then return here to read this article). When I asked Ms.
