Photo Focus: Reverend Horton Heat at LVCS During Viva Las Vegas 16 3/29/13 Review, Video and Photos

The sticky floors and crowded conditions faded away from the moment the first cord was sung. Reverend Horton Heat just played here in Vegas in December, and somehow we got him again a few months later. LVCS (@lvsaloon on Twitter) was holding a Bee Bop A Lula weekend to run along side of Viva Las Vegas 16. I loved hearing Reverend Horton Heat perform "Bales of Cocain" from the early days, and the crowd sing along to almost every word. Many fans of the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender were present. After the finale' Rev was mobbed for photos and autographs. There were many true fans there that night. The concert wrapped with a drum solo from long-time member Scott Churilla. Wow, drum juggling? I've never seen that. A late night jam session "like old times" with the boys was announced online via Twitter by Frankie and Tony Moreno on Friday March 8, 2013. Singer at Gold Rush Lounge at the Golden Nugget downtown Harry Shahoian introduced the Stratosphere star who sat at the piano in front of a beautiful vintage michrophone. He powered through a sexy rendition of "Stray Cat Strut", seguing into "Fever" to treat standard lovers in the crowd to some classics. Moreno and crew were set to take a break and go another round by 1am. Video and photos by Frankie Tease. Tidbits and Teasers: Jennifer Keith at Chandelier, Gooch at Laugh Factory, Royal Crown Revue at Cannery

"Gooch" hosts a comedy show at  Laugh Factory this month. Jennifer Keith Swings in Style The fact that Keith's Great Grandfather put the K in RKO may have a bearing on her cherishing the vocal style of Patsy Cline, and Patty Page, and she features the  hit standard "Bei Mir Bist Du Shon" at live performances and on her album. The band is masterminded by Royal Crown Revue's own Mondo Durame the sexiest saxophonist around (really). Free shows at the Cosmopolitan are a part of this five year outfit's semi-regular visits to Vegas now (and isn't Vegas so lucky), including Mar. 21, 8- 10:30pm, and Mar. 22 and 23, 9-12:30, and Mar. 24 from 8-10:30. Few pairings could be more delectable than this songstress' voice and her amazingly talented vintage standard backing band Local Funny Radio Guy "Gooch" Hosts at Laugh Factory Brandon "Gooch" Hahn will host two oustanding comedians at the Laugh Factory at Tropicana during

Tidbits and Teasers: Pin Up Sinclair, Dice at Vinyl, Rev Horton Heat at LVCS

Pin Up Springs into Stratosphere The newest show addition to the Las Vegas strip is called Pin Up . The cast and crew are star studded, and so are the producers. Stratosphere Entertainment Director Matt Mascali says the new lighting for the show was delayed in shipping and has happily pushed the opening date from Feb. 25 to Mar. 2, 2013.  "We owe it to our performers to make sure every component matches the massive talent on stage" he stated. Who's involved in the creation of the show? Co-Producer and Best Strip Headliner Frankie Moreno, Trumpeter and the show's music composer Dave Perrico (six piece live backing band), choreographer Lacey Schwimmer of DWTS and SYTYCD. The show will also feature many singers and backing dancers who've been in rehearsal for months at the Stratosphere Showroom, where it will be housed. The show is said to be inspired by classic pin up calendars and stars Claire Sinclair who was Miss October 2010 in Playboy Magazine, a

Rock and Roll and Soul Reappear in Vintage Trouble - A Vegas Show Review

photos and article by Frankie Tease The band are four. The band are powerful. The band are merciless in demanding you participate with them in celebrating great music. The show was Feb. 9, 2013 at Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas, and was one of several shows they did that weekend. For the one I attended, they opened for Band of Skulls, but I would not have known they were the opener were it not billed so. They owned this room and owned this stage. And the fact that the music is written by all members of the band shows its sustainability. During their stent at Hard Rock they opened for legendary UK Rock Gods the Who, which presented the Quadraphenia album in its entirety. Not bad. They've toured England and back, and are an L.A. based band who have been creating " trouble  makers" (as their fans are known) for over two years. They've released one studio album entitled "The Bomb Shelter Sessions" featuring 14 original rock and soul songs. The b

Burlesque Star and Singer Melody Sweets Album Release Party January at Ceaser's Palace

Melody Sweets has had music featured on MTV, VH1, A&E and National Geographic on hit shows such as Celebrity Fit Club and PUNK’D. She is also the first performer in the history of burlesque to have produced, written and starred in her own music video for “Slice of Heaven.” A lover of the arts, Melody Sweets has had the privilege of performing for and collaborating with such acclaimed artists including STING, Björk, Moby, Alice Cooper, The Bravery, Marc Jacobs, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Adriana Lima and Harvey Keitel." Since 2011 fans and tourists in Vegas have enjoyed the starring role Melody Sweets plays in the top-notch production Absinthe. As promised during my 2012 interview with her (in Best of Frankie Tease Magazine Vol.1 eBook) the star has brought an entire album of her original brand of music to us entitled "Burlesque in the Black" . Enchanted by her voice and style, many fanatic fans have been waiting more than a year as the artist worked t

Si Cranstoun's "Dance Halls and Supper Clubs"? The Boys Done Good.

I n 2012, Si Cranstoun came to Las Vegas and played the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender as his first ever U.S. gig. (It was love at first tune for both fans and band, and he's billed again for 2013). That's when I saw the wild audience response to the man and his band.  Is it possible to experience instant nostalgia for that which you have never heard?  Such was the case for me with Si Cranstoun (UK). His live show is like a recording of Doo Wop or Swing Music by Jackie Wilson, Nat King Cole, or at times the power vocals of Sammy Davis Jr.  Si Cranstoun  has just released his new album "Dance Halls & Supper Clubs, Limited Edition" (2012 Galley Music) featuring ten songs and two bonus tracks. What's fascinating about it is that Si is the Composer, Vocalist, and Producer [Engineered by Jon Radford and Si Cranstoun, Mastered by Guy Davie of Electric Mastering], and with all that autonomy, it still sounds amazing. His fifth album effort includ

The Big Six 'Rocked' Us at Viva Las Vegas 15 - by Frankie Tease

The Big Six photo courtesy of the band. Part of the decision for me to attend this year's Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender was pushed over into reality by the fact that the Big Six of England would be one of the headliners. They have a very fond place in my heart, and hearing they'd be back in the states was exciting. You see, several years ago (perhaps in the teen count) this fiery band appeared at a little club I was at on the regular called 'The Derby' in Hollywood, maybe you've heard of it? It was an amazing night, and it converted me into a Big Six listener, as well as enthusiast. I wore those perfectly-measured-for-Swing-Dance albums out. Make that album. Back then, they had only the first album available 'Ready to Rock', chalk-full of 20 tunes, both top-notch covers and originals. Part of what I took from their live performance was their insane antics, like standing on the bass and lighting the piano and the bass on fire. Would the Big Six sti

Viva Las Vegas 15 Rockabilly Weekend - The Guitar is still the Star- by Frankie Tease

Photo by Frankie Tease 2012 Band after band came on stage throughout the four-day Rockabilly Weekend held annually at the Orleans Hotel & Casino each Easter Weekend. Clearly though, it was the guitar drivin' the ride. There were eight stages in all and shows within shows continuously. Volumes of bands paid tribute to the great inventors of Rock N' Roll of the 1950's decade. If the solid tribute wasn't enough, actual guitar and Rock N' Roll legends also graced the stage in large numbers. Duane Eddy and The Ventures (ie: Nokie Edwards, Don Wilson, Gerry McGee) were among the most anticipated acts at Viva Las Vegas 15. Hundreds of acts were on inside stages day and night for four-day-pass holders who bought ahead, and the one day Car Show and concert was open to day-of purchase and was well attended.  Cars, vendors, and music began in front of a huge area at the Orleans Arena at 9am and went well after 8pm. The weather was absolutely perfect for the Saturd

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend 15 to Rock Orleans Hotel Apr. 5-8 2012

Please note: Read 2013 preview at  http://www.frankietease.com/2012/09/viva-las-vegas-16-rockabilly-weekend.html by Frankie Tease   Started by organizer Tom Ingram (Long Beach, CA.) Las Vegas has been home to the  Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend  for 14 years, this will be the 15th. A little known fact about Tom, he started as an actor (IMDB.com). For those who have never experienced the pure dose of Mid-Century Americana fashion, music, vintage cars, and Burlesque, this is your chance. The festival will take over the  Orleans Hotel  (previously held at Gold Coast Hotel) from Thursday to Sunday with a very packed agenda leaving no audience members behind, unless they don't have tickets. Some enthusiastic show-goers have had their  four day pass  for up to a year, drawing people from as far as the U.K. and Australia. If you like beauty, booze, or 50's-era American Rock n' Roll music, you'll find it at VLV15. Those who have missed the opportu

Burlesque and Music: Amanda Richards interview

Photo courtesy of Amanda Richards After over two years of working with Amanda Richards aka DeManda at all types of Burlesque Shows, Miss Frankie Tease sat down with Amanda to discuss her brand new Grammy nominations, how she got on the PNW Burlesque circuit, and what it's like to be a Singer/Songwriter, Bohemian Country Songstress in Portland, Oregon. FRANKIE So Amanda, how did you get the news of your "Official Grammy Nomination" this week? AMANDA Well I got a call from my manager saying "we have some good news for you' and I hadn't heard from them for a while. And they said 'You're up for Grammy nominations this year'. It took about a week for me to get the list of what all the categories were, six total. [Here are the six nominations 1-Record of the Year : Cookies & Whiskey 2-Record of the Year : Perfect Cup of Coffee 3 - Song of the Year: Ballbuster 4- Best Female Country Vocal Performance: Ballbuster 5-Best Country Song:
